Cape Henlopen Lodge Donates to Elks Tornado Victims
An F2 tornado ripped through Kent Island, MD, July 24th. Two Elks members from Lodge #2576 lost everything in the 120+ MPH winds. Kent Island Lodge’s ER, Angela Mayer, issued an urgent plea for help throughout the district. The House Committee from Cape Henlopen Elks took up two collections. Mary Jane Neenan took up a collection during Antlers Up. Combined, the three collections brought in $1,500. Cape Henlopen’s Board matched the funds and a check totaling $3,000 was presented to Kent Island Lodge’s ER, Angela Mayer on August 20th to help those Elk families affected. Lynn Clougher, Cape Henlopen’s ER stated, “We have an incredibly generous Lodge, whenever called upon, our members open up their hearts and their wallets.”

New Member Initiation
On Saturday, June 17th and Tuesday, June 20th the Lodge initiated a total of 30 new members, the largest class of new members in recent history. That brings the total of new members taken in since April 1st to over 50, with 16 additional applications in process. Less than three months into the new year, the Lodge is on a pace to surpass last year's record total of 135 new members. Great Job, Team 17.

Flag Day Ceremony
The Lodge will hold its annual Flag day Ceremony on Sunday, June 4th in the George Horneck Room. The day will begin with a "picnic" style lunch from 12PM to 1PM. At 1PM the Lodge will conduct the Flag Day Ritual as prescribed by the Grand Lodge. After the Ritual is concluded, the Lodge will have a ceremonial burning of all of the torn and tattered flags accumulated over the past year. This event is open to the public and all are invited to attend.

Lodge Website Goes On-Line
Cape Henlopen Lodge published and activated its new website today, ending a period of about two years when the Lodge had no on-line presence. The site was produced entirely in house and emphasizes our programs, our monthly social events and the officers and volunteers that make the Lodge work. The site includes a "Contact" page and our members are encouraged to submit comments, suggestions, etc. Visit us at www.capehenlopenelks.org.

Lynn Clougher Elected To The Office Of Exalted Ruler
Members of Cape Henlopen Lodge #2540 have elected Lynn Clougher to be their 43rd Exalted Ruler. Lynn is a native of New Jersey and has had a home in Delaware for the past 12 years. She has previously held the Lodge offices of Esteemed Lecturing Knight and Esteemed Leading Knight. She has been a Elk for 15 years and a member of our Lodge since relocating here from NJ in 2012. Lynn’s husband, Tom is currently the Lodge’s Loyal Knight. Best wishes to Lynn and her officers for the upcoming year. “GO TEAM 17”

Congratulations to our Elks National Foundation Team for a job Well Done! in the year ending April 1st. Cape Henlopen Elks finished 3rd in the Southeast District and 9th in the State with a per capital contribution of $10.91 per member. ENF Chair, Gale Brand and all of those who worked so hard for ENF should be proud of their efforts. Great Job!

Lodge Has Huge Gain Membership In 2016-17
Cape Henlopen Lodge initiated 135 new members in the past year, the largest number in the MD, DE & DC State Association. Congratulations to Past ER Gary Eckenrode, Joanne Fry, Gale Brand and all of the members of the membership committee. Keep it going guys…Great Job!
